Gioielli in Fermento 2016. Un gioiello, come il vino,
è una miracolosa combinazione tra libertà e vincolo.

Gli attuali lavori riflettono sull’influenza dell’uomo sulla natura. Per questo bracciale ho tratto ispirazione dal paesaggio delle vigne, considerando la loro struttura, le forme, le trame e i colori.
Nel processo creativo mi trovo di fronte alla tensione tra libertà e vincoli espressivi: la profonda sfida di trasformare il materiale conferendogli un nuovo significato. Qui ho utilizzato borse di plastica usate che ho trovato sparse per i campi, impigliate nei rami. Eppure nel mio pezzo sono diventati il frutto che rappresenta elemento vitale.

Gioielli in Fermento 2016

My present line of work reflects upon the influence of Man on Nature.
For this bracelet, I found inspiration in the landscapes of vineyards,
considering their structure, shapes, textures and colors.
During the creative process, I face the tension between freedom and
restriction: the long task of transforming the material to give it new meaning.
Here, I use disposable plastic bags that I picture flying over the fields,
tangled in the vines. But in my piece they become fruit to represent life.

Mabel Pena is born in Argentine, 1958. Lives and works in Buenos Aires.
1970-1976 Graduated from ENET N º 6 “Fernando Fader” on Applied Arts.
1977- 1979 Scenography. Universidad del Salvador.
1981-1984 Sets and Costumes Course with Gaston Breyer and Graciela Galan.
