Ritracciare la linea, mettere a fuoco il proprio fermento, la propria evoluzione.

Uno dei temi più attuali per chi opera nell’ambito del gioiello contemporaneo di ricerca è quello di porsi il problema dell’efficacia del proprio lavoro, mettersi in discussione, cercare “un sé stesso” che renda unico il proprio lavoro.

Il professor Charon Kransen ci aiuterà a mettere a fuoco il nostro percorso.

Non si tratterà di un seminario per l’apprendimento di un’altra tecnica, ma di fatto l’attenzione sarà centrata su come individuare il proprio percorso, la propria ipotesi creativa, il proprio “scritto”, come Kransen dice, “ritracciare il proprio scritto / re-writing Your own script“.
Molti autori si concentrano sulle tendenze che sembrano meglio funzionare nei confronti dei potenziali clienti e collezionisti. Realizzano ciò che ci si aspetta da loro invece di proporre loro stessi qualcosa di innovativo e questo si ripercuote su loro stessi e  sul loro modo di vedere la vita in generale. Molti autori si sono convertiti interamente alle richieste commerciali (che di questi tempi, in Italia, hanno avuto una battuta d’arresto e soffrono crisi diffusa -ndr), perchè semplicemente non sono consapevoli di una qualche alternativa. Un’alternativa nelle diverse direzioni che si possono intraprendere come pure nel rivolgersi ad altri mercati. Kransen, nella sua esperienza, osserva come molti siano completamente bloccati e non particolarmente soddisfatti di come impiegano il loro originale talento.
Questioni che, a parere di Kransen, derivano dalle molte barriere insite in ognuno, che limitano la crescita personale e la scoperta della propria espressione più profonda e personale .
Discussioni e simulazioni, durante questo workshop, aiuteranno i partecipanti ad affrontare questi aspetti. Ciascuno è pronto a cambiare solo nel momento in cui ha maturato in sè il perchè del cambiamento, e può iniziare a riconvertire  gli schemi mentali con i quali si affronta il proprio lavoro.  Questo è ciò che Kransen intende far emergere durante il workshop.
Nelle due intense giornate, oltre ad analizzare questi ostacoli personali, si affronteranno anche temi molto pratici, come ad esempio:

• qual è il profilo ideale del tuo cliente
• come entrare in contatto con una galleria o un negozio
• come definire un percorso e conseguire dei risultati soddisfacenti, come “emergere”
• quali fattori influenzano i galleristi e come effettuano la loro selezione

Naturalmente sarà possibile esaminare tutti i modi per favorire l’inserimento nei circuiti internazionali della propria attività e a questo scopo per tutti gli argomenti sarà avviata una discussione aperta agli interventi e ai quesiti dei partecipanti.

Charon Kransen é nato in Olanda dove si è formato come jewelry artist, nel suo paese d’origine e in Norvegia, Germania, Israele. E’ stato per molti anni docente all’Università di Utrecht – Art Department – Jewelry and Product Design, all’ Art College di Amersfoort, è stato Presidente della Dutch Jewelry Design Organization e da 27 anni risiede a New York dove dirige la Charon Kransen Arts Gallery, occupandosi di gioiello contemporaneo internazionale. Lì rappresenta circa 125 autori da ogni parte del mondo e negli ultimi 25 anni ha portato il loro lavoro in tutte le maggiori fiere d’arte negli Stati Uniti.  Oltre a questa attività, tiene conferenze e seminari in tutto il mondo, rivolti a studenti e professionisti del mondo del gioiello contemporaneo.
Si occupa di distribuire negli US  tutti i testi sull’argomento ed è bookshop ufficiale della convention SNAG.

Re-writing your own script, focusing on your own evolution.
One of the most current issues for artists working in the field of contemporary jewelry, is the analysis of the effectiveness of their own work, to question themselves, trying to find their own way and to make their work unique.

Professor Charon Kransen will help us to focus our own evolution.
“The seminars are not about learning yet another technique, but will focus primarily on the aspect of the personal “script” or I should say, re-writing your own “script”. Many artists focus completely on the tastes and demands of main stream clients. They make was is expected of them instead of being the ones who offer the public something innovative. This stretches their brains and their outlook on life in general. Most artist have become completely commercial, because they simply are not aware of other options. Options in the various directions one can take, and also options to focus on other markets. Many simply don’t know what these options could possibly be, so as a result these artists, in my experience, are creatively stuck and not particularly satisfied with how they use their unique talent. These issues often come from barriers within ourselves; barriers which limit our personal growth and the discovery of our very own personal expression.
In the seminar we address these issues through discussion and exercises.  Only when somebody develops insights into why change is needed, we can actually begin to reverse thought patterns in the way we approach our work and that is exactly what I am offering with this seminar. Besides looking at the barriers within our self, we also address very practical issues such as:

• what is the profile of your customer
• how do I approach a gallery or a shop
• how does a gallery select
• how do we define success

Of course it would also possibly open up opportunities to connect artists more to the international markets and for this aim all issues will be discussed openly with participants.” C.K.

Professor Charon Kransen is a trained jewelry artist, educated in Norway, Germany and Israel. Originally from Holland. For many years he was professor at the University Art Department Jewelry and Product Design in Utrecht and also taught at an Art College in Amersfoort where was running the jewelry and enameling department. This was both in Holland. For a number of years he was president of the Dutch Jewelry Designers Organization. Since about 27 years he is residing in New York where he runs the Charon Kransen Arts Gallery, specializing in international contemporary jewelry. He represents  about 125 jewelry artists from all over the world and has shown their work at some of the major art fairs in the USA for the past 25 years. Besides this he lectures worldwide about contemporary jewelry and also teaches seminars all over the world to students and professionals in the field.  CKArts is also the official bookshop for SNAG and during SNAG conventions and supplies all texts about contemporary jewellery all over US.
