Fermento
E i colori in riferimento a vini bianchi e rossi frizzanti.
The wine is produced through a precious process and fermentation is one of its most complex and important steps.
“Ferment” a set of work that is the maturation of my research with the acrylic glass, where – as in the wine fermentation process – the transformation of the material is controlled by the temperature and time.
This ritual is made by conscious choices, but the result contains casual interventions that generate unique pieces. By producing bubbles in this material, it is as if I were doing a synthetic material breath. Poetically, giving it anima. And thus it is an invitation to rethink the concept of preciousness. The choice of form is a reference to the grapes, the cross section of the fermentation vats, bottle and glass of wine, round. The transparency and light are features that make allusion to time and wine. And the colors a reference to sparkling red and white wines.
So, like the experience of drinking a good wine, even when repeated, the experience of wearing that jewelry is always unique and it can touch the wearer and the spectator in different ways.
My fruit, in this work, is a synthetic and affordable material that through the process is transformed into precious, unique, enigmatic and multiple. I believe it is these surprises to look at, to touch, to unveil the variation of looks according to the light and visual angles that satisfies our souls.

Kika Rufino is 31 years old, was born in São Paulo, Brazil.
She dances since her 5, has worked with education for 5 years and in the same year she concluded her Bachelor in Architect and Urban Planner at the University of São Paulo she opened her own studio. It was in the artistic jewellery work that she found her way to combine expression, creation and construction.
Her work originates from the body and addresses to the body, by inviting others to lock again, touch, wear, smell and sometimes even to eat it. She explores that potentiality that the art jewellery has as an object that is transported on the body and, therefore, it is in constant relation with other people in different environments, therefore being perceived not only static but also in movement.
Kika Rufino has been the first and only Brazilian select to three editions of the International “Concorso Gioielli in Fermento” (Italy, 2013-2015). Since 2013 she is a member of AGC (contemporary jewellery association from Italy.
She speaks Portuguese, Spanish, English, Hebrew and Italian.
In 2015 she was selected to the Master of Fine Arts at Hochschule Trier, Campus Idar-Oberstein, where Kika is enrolled in her third semester, developing a practical and theoretical master thesis about the concept of Sacred and Preciousness in the contemporary life.
