Proprio come i vigneti in sé, il gioiello nasce da un processo di generazione. Libertà e vincolo definiscono ogni processo creativo.
Partendo da una unità di base e un sistema di collegamento, strutture più complesse e infinite si generano in assoluta LIBERTÀ: la somma di cellule di base uguali, unite tra sé seguendo traiettorie aleatorie.
Un sistema di crescita illimitata che finalmente trova un fine; un gesto di VINCOLO. Il punto in cui la forma organica raggiunge il suo stato ultimo di maturità e bellezza, come risultato di un processo combinato di flessibilità e controllo.
Il gioiello elogia la forma naturale dei vitigni e la posizione libera dei tralci nei suoi rami, che definiscono la sua futura crescita organica in una forma imprevedibile. Il punto finale di maturità, il germoglio dell’uva, rappresenta quel momento finale di contenimento che permette alla pianta di raggiungere il suo stato massimo di bellezza.

Just like growing vines itself, the jewel arise from a process of generation. Freedom and constraint defines all creative process.
Departing from a basic unit and a connecting system, more complex and infinite structures develop in absolut FREEDOM: The sum of equal basic cells, joined together along random paths.
A system of unlimited growth that finally reaches an end; a gesture of CONSTRAINT. A point in which the organic form finds its ultimate state of maturity and beauty, as a result of a combined process of flexibility and control.
The jewel praise the natural shape of the wine stocks and the free location of vine branches on it, which defines its future organical growth into an unpredictable shape. Its final point of maturity, the blossom out of grapes, represents the final moment of constraint that allows the plant to achieve its maximum state of beauty.

Combinando artigianato e tecnologia, la gioielleria è l’espressione artistica che canalizza le sue inquietudini più personali.
I progetti che sviluppa sorgono da un’attrazione concreta verso un concetto, che lo spinge a lavorare fino ad ottenere coerenza tra le idee, i materiali e le tecniche.
Lavora liberamente esplorando le possibilità plastiche di ogni materiale, controllando con precisione i processi e godendo della sorpresa che può derivare dall’inaspettato. I risultati sono una fusione di coerenza, precisione ed espressività.

Combining craftsmanship and technology, jewelry is the artistic medium most capable of conveying her personal interests.
The projects that she develops arise from a specific attraction towards a concept, extracting it’s essence in pursuit of obtaining coherence between ideas, materials and techniques. She works freely exploring the possibilities of each material and precisely controlling the processes, whilst enjoying the surprise which might come from the unexpected. The results are a fusion of coherence, precision and expression.

Esther Ortiz-Villajos obtains in 2005 the Master’s Degree in Architecture from the School of Art and Architecture of the UEM (European University of Madrid). Since 2007 she works in her own studio where she combines her professional career as an architect with teaching and jewelry.
She is trained in various techniques that have allowed her to develop her craft skills: Jewelry techniques, stone-setting, enamelling or porcelain, among which stands out the Expert degree in Wax Modelling in CEJI S.L. (European Center of Integral Jewelry of Madrid, 2008), Expert degree in Jewelry Design in IED Madrid (Istituto Europeo di Design, 2010-2011) and Nunome Zogan technique in ALCHIMIA (Contemporary Jewellery School, Florence Italy, 2014). She combines these techniques with computing tools applied to design and digital fabrication.
In 2011 she wins the First Prize in a Jewellery Design Competition of the IED for the Thyssen-Bormisza Museum of Madrid, developing a complete jewellery collection for the exhibition ‘Architectural Paintings’ (October 2011 – January 2012) and recently she has been awarded in the 24th LEGNICA INTERNATIONAL JEWELLERY COMPETITION with the ‘Prize gift of the HEFRA Company’ (May 2015).
